Skill Evaluation in Human Adaptive Mechatronics. Bimanual Operation with X-y Stages

چکیده
In this paper, some HAM (Human Adaptive Mechatronics) research results on operator skill evaluation, operation assistance, identification of operator's dynamics, skill acquisition, and coupling phenomenon in bimanual operation are presented at first. Then the bimanual operation is discussed in detail. The phenomenon of spatial coupling between two different tasks performed by two hands respectively (bimanual operation) and the effect of frequency ratio and phase-lag between two circle tracking tasks on the bimanual operation are investigated in this paper. Two XY-stages developed in Tokyo Denki University are used as humanmachine interfaces, with which various experiments on human bimanual cooperative operations have been conducted to investigate the human operation characteristics for the development of human adaptive mechatronic systems. In this paper, three experiments of bimanual operation are presented, with which the phenomenon of spatial coupling was clearly observed. It was also found in the experiments that the human operator can develop his/her skill of bimanual operation much easier with some frequency ratio and some phase-lag.

Human adaptive mechatronics is intelligent electrical-mechanical systems that are able to adapt themselves to the human’s skill in various environments, and provide assistance in improving the skill, and overall operation of the combined human machine system to achieve improved performance. It is clear that humans have strong and extremely adaptive natural mechanisms that are able to accommodat...

متن کاملThe Differences in Sensorimotor Rhythm Power During Performing In-Phase and Anti-Phase Patterns in Bimanual Coordination
Purpose: The sensorimotor cortex oscillations (frequency ranging between 12 and 15 Hz), commonly known as Sensorimotor Rhythm (SMR) has previously displayed a promising link between the performance of the visuomotor related to skill execution and part of psychology that is adaptive (e.g. the process linked attention which is automatic). This study examined the extent of SMR power in the executi...
متن کاملTwo Processes in Early Bimanual Motor Skill Learning
Most daily activities are bimanual and their efficient performance requires learning and retention of bimanual coordination. Despite in-depth knowledge of the various stages of motor skill learning in general, how new bimanual coordination control policies are established is still unclear. We designed a new cooperative bimanual task in which subjects had to move a cursor across a complex path (...
